BRADLEY, Texas — Bradleys charitable foundation will give $300 million to a Texas children’s hospital, the Texas Children’s Fund said Friday.
The money will go to the Bradley Childrens Health System, which will also help pay for pediatric services, the foundation said.
Bradley Childrens will also build a new pediatric medical center in Bradleys hometown of Katy.
The hospital, located about 35 miles west of Houston, will become the largest pediatric hospital in the United States and the only one in Texas.
The donation will help Bradleys hospitals pediatric services as well as help pay down debt on its hospital debt, the charity said.
The Bradleys foundation said in a statement Friday that the donation was made as a part of a larger effort to help children and families.
The foundation said the donation came after an intensive discussion among the Bradleys and the hospital’s board of directors.
Bradleys Childrens said the hospital had been struggling financially for years.
Bradkins Foundation, which is owned by Bradleys son, Bill, is a nonprofit charity whose primary mission is to support children and youth by providing them with healthy meals and other services.
Its president, Bill Bradleys, said he and his wife, Jill, were thrilled to help with the Bradleys new investment in the Bradys children’s medical center.
